Katie is a journalist for Reuters news agency in New York, reporting on social media companies.

Before covering tech, she spent nearly a decade based in the Middle East, primarily reporting on Saudi Arabia and the war in Syria. Over the course of her career, she has sniffed out Facebook’s data privacy ‘Switcharoo Plan’, interviewed Prince Alwaleed bin Talal hours before his release from the Riyadh Ritz-Carlton and charted the fracturing of Syria’s rebellion in Idlib. She started out as a cub reporter with Newsweek in New York, after clinching an Overseas Press Club scholarship.

Katie holds a B.A. in history from Vassar College and a master's degree from the MSFS program at Georgetown University. She is fluent in Arabic and certified in emergency medical response by the RISC program for reporters covering conflict.
