Katie is a journalist for Reuters news agency in the Arabian Peninsula, where she has covered palace intrigue, IPO plans for the world's biggest oil company and the hesitant return of music to Saudi society.
Before Reuters, Katie spent several years covering the war in Syria for the Los Angeles Times, the New Republic, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, al-Monitor, Human Rights Watch and The Daily Beast. She is a former reporter for Newsweek.com in New York and a recipient of an Overseas Press Club scholarship.
Katie holds a B.A. in history from Vassar College and a master's degree from the MSFS program at Georgetown University, where she was a fellow at the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy. She is certified in emergency medical response by the RISC program for reporters covering conflict.
